We live a society that often says “Winning isn’t everything it’s the only thing!” I see it all the time in varying degrees in youth sports. Early in life I held to this idea as a teen and even into young adulthood.

As leaders we are called to develop leaders. Developing leaders requires that we be willing to give away authority. For some leaders it is tough to give away authority and there can be a myriad of reasons. Let’s take a look at a couple of personal things that can get in the way.

First Impressions – There are NO Do Overs!

With the new ministry season quickly approaching I thought it would be a great opportunity to talk about First Impressions. First Impressions only happen once. We have one shot to put our best foot forward. Statistics tell us that the average person decides in the first eight minutes of their first visit whether or not they are going to return.

Leadership is Tough

Real Leaders know that and don’t shrink back from the job. Whether it’s in business (been there), coaching (still there) or teaching (always there), when you’re the leader everyone has an opinion about how you’re doing your job. Whenever someone criticizes your leadership you know that at the very least you’re doing something.
